Double celebration as colleagues nominate each other for awards

newbury apprenticeship 2019 nominees announced

Two esa employees will be attending Newbury’s Apprenticeship Awards event after unknowingly nominating each other for awards.

Celebrating National Apprenticeship week, the annual Newbury College Apprenticeship Awards toast the achievements of its apprentices and their supporters. Demonstrating esa’s commitment to nurturing and developing the skills of our employees, we’re delighted to announce that two colleagues are up for awards.

Reasons to be cheerful

Chloe Bowley (Apprentice Operations Executive) has been nominated for a Best Apprentice in a Medium Business Apprenticeship Award. Kirsty White, Property Operations Team Leader, explains why she nominated Chloe. “Chloe was new to the serviced apartment industry when she joined us. She has excelled in her role, taking ownership of all tasks given to her.

“She has been instrumental in the delivery and implementation of our property operations strategy. So much so, she was confident enough to successfully manage her department for two months. Not bad for an apprentice!

“Chloe has had a very difficult few months after her mother was diagnosed with cancer towards the end of 2018. She has coped remarkably well with the set-back, boasting an attitude way beyond her years. She is even pushing herself to complete Pretty Muddy for Cancer Research UK in June 2019. We can’t wait to offer Chloe a full-time role once she has successfully completed her apprenticeship.”

In a refreshing turn of events, Chloe had also nominated Kirsty, who is now up for the Best Workplace Mentor Apprenticeship Award. Chloe said, “Kirsty has bent over backwards to help me. She has given me emotional support when I’ve needed it and kept me on track.

“Kirsty has shown me that it is ok to have bad days. This has enabled me to come back stronger, whether it is with coursework, revision, or with personal issues.”

Chloe and Kirsty will be attending the Apprenticeship Awards event on Thursday 7th March 2019 at Newbury College. Matt Franklin, a former winner of the Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award, will be guest speaker for the evening. Follow us on social media to keep up with the event as it happens.
